Doug Jay is a Blues, R&B, and Swing master deserving of more attention. Perhaps he really will hit the jackpot with this one. I highly recommend it.
BluesWax online Fanzine (U.S.) (Beardo), 10 November 2005
In recent years, Doug Jay has become a popular visitor to the UK, building a reputation as one of the finest harp players and vocalists on the blues scene today; a reputation he has confirmed with the release of 'Jackpot', an apt title for his finest release to date.......(it) will leave harp fans drooling for more.
Blues In Britain (U.K.) (Mick Rainsford), 2 July 2005
(Jackpot!)...is easily the most enjoyable harp CD I've heard so far this year, strongly recommended. He's damn fine on record and even better live, if he comes through your town make sure you don't miss him!
Blues & Rhythm Magazine (U.K.) (Phil Wight), 11 June 2005
His music is stronger from all his years of performing, and he's developed into an accomplished songwriter. He's found expert players to back him, but they never sound slick, only deep and tough. Doug's music deserves more recognition.
Blues Revue Magazine (U.S.) (Bob Margolin), 5 January 2005
Doug Jay deserves to be ranked with the top young harp stalwarts...
Living Blues Magazine (Bill Dahl), 1 December 1993
I've not enjoyed a CD as much as ('Until We Meet Again') in a long while and I promise that anyone with an interest in contemporary harmonica players will absolutely love it.
Blueprint Magazine (U.K.) (Ray Gardner), 8 August 1993
Doug Jay has learned, as few others have, from that dear, departed ambassador to hell, Little Walter.
Rolling Stone Magazine (U.S.) (Nick Tosches), 2 November 1978
